Brothers Arrested in W. Bay Street Shooting in Savannah

The Savannah Police Department has arrested two brothers, 24-year-old Marquell Desean Moultrie and 23-year-old Malik Ty Shawn Moultrie, in connection with a shooting that occurred on W. Bay Street on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Marquell Moultrie is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during a felony, and possession of an illegal weapon. Malik Moultrie faces charges of obstruction, party to a crime (aggravated assault), tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of an illegal weapon.

Officers responded to the area of W. Bay Street and Jefferson Street around 2:20 a.m. after hearing gunshots. Upon arrival, they observed Marquell Moultrie with a firearm and moved to apprehend him. Marquell dropped the weapon, which was then picked up by Malik Moultrie, who attempted to flee. Both suspects were taken into custody at the scene. One adult male was treated for a graze wound.

Simultaneously, officers responded to a report in the 1100 block of E. Waldburg Street regarding a vehicle struck by gunfire while traveling on Bay Street. The driver of that vehicle was treated for a minor graze wound.
