Suspect Arrested Minutes After Fatal Shooting Witnessed by Gwinnett County Officers
SNELLVILLE, Ga. – A man was taken into custody moments after a fatal shooting that unfolded in front of Gwinnett County police officers early Sunday morning.
Just after midnight, officers assigned to the Gwinnett County Police Department’s South Precinct were on patrol when they heard gunshots coming from the parking lot of 3541 Stone Mountain Highway in Snellville.
As officers responded, they observed a male suspect fleeing the area and took him into custody without incident.
At the scene, officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot. Despite emergency response efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gwinnett County Police homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to process the scene, collect evidence and interview witnesses.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation remains ongoing.
