Gas Station Shooting Victim Dies; Charges Upgraded to Murder
On April 7, 2024, a shooting incident occurred at Sunoco, located at 4691 Log Cabin Drive, prompting a response from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies after a report was made to the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center at 8:03 a.m.
Upon arrival, deputies found 64-year-old Robert Pleasant suffering from a gunshot wound, reportedly stemming from an altercation inside the store. Pleasant was taken to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment, where medical staff reported him to be in stable condition. No one else was injured during the altercation.
At 8:18 a.m. on the same day, deputies took 25-year-old Edwardo Eugene Bigelow Jr., of Macon, into custody as a person of interest in connection with the shooting. Bigelow was transported to Investigations Headquarters for further investigation before being moved to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, where he was charged with Aggravated Assault. His bond was denied.
On April 15, 2024, Robert Pleasant succumbed to his injuries. Deputy Coroner Luanne Stone confirmed that the next of kin had been notified.
Edwardo Eugene Bigelow Jr. remains in custody and now faces a charge of Murder in connection with the death of Robert Pleasant on April 7, 2024. He is being held without bond.
