Bibb County Deputies Make Two Traffic Arrests, Including Driver Going 96 MPH While Intoxicated
MACON, Ga. – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is highlighting two recent traffic enforcement arrests, including an allegedly intoxicated driver accused of traveling 96 mph while pulling a trailer and another motorist who authorities say refused to immediately stop for a deputy before resisting arrest.
In the first case, Patrol Division Deputy John Kile stopped a Ford F-150 pulling a trailer after the vehicle was observed traveling 96 mph on the interstate, according to the sheriff’s office.
Following field sobriety testing, authorities determined that the driver, a resident of Boston, Georgia, had an alcohol level approximately twice the legal limit.
The driver’s name was not included in the information released by the sheriff’s office.
Deputy Finds Open Alcohol Containers, Tag Allegedly Belonged to Home Depot Trailer
During the investigation, Deputy Kile allegedly discovered open containers of alcohol.
Authorities also determined that the license plate displayed on the Ford F-150 did not belong to the truck. According to the sheriff’s office, the tag was registered to a trailer owned by Home Depot in Atlanta.
The driver was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI, driving while license suspended or revoked, open container and affixing a tag with the intent to conceal a vehicle’s identity.
The case resulted in an additional felony charge after the driver was taken to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center.
During processing, authorities said marijuana was discovered concealed on the driver’s person.
He was subsequently charged with crossing the guard line with weapons, intoxicants or drugs without consent, a felony offense.
Second Driver Accused of Refusing to Stop for Deputy
In a separate traffic enforcement case, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office H.E.A.T. Unit Cpl. Dalton Palmer attempted to stop a Honda after allegedly clocking it traveling 54 mph in a 35-mph zone on Forest Hill Road.
According to the incident report, the female driver did not immediately stop after Palmer initiated the traffic stop.
Instead, authorities said she continued driving, failed to stop at an intersection and left her lane of travel five times.
The driver finally stopped as Palmer was preparing to perform a PIT maneuver, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies subsequently determined that the vehicle was uninsured and had a suspended registration. The sheriff’s office also said the woman was not wearing a seat belt and had been using a cellphone while driving.
Authorities said she resisted when Palmer attempted to take her into custody.
According to the sheriff’s office, the woman argued that the deputy had no reason to detain her and claimed her rights were being violated because Palmer would not allow her to continue driving home before stopping her.
She was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center.
The sheriff’s office said she was charged with a lengthy list of offenses, although the complete list of charges was not included in the information released.
