The incident began at approximately 5:33 p.m. on June 7 at the Circle K located at 3391 Mercer University Drive.

Deputies responded to reports of a person being shot and found 33-year-old Teagan Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators said Jones had been involved in a verbal altercation with a man later identified as Delmar Tavaris Eugene Black before he allegedly shot her in the parking lot.

According to authorities, Jones fled from Black after being shot and was subsequently struck by a vehicle traveling west on Mercer University Drive. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Investigators said Black fled the scene in a Buick Enclave.
