Brief Pursuit Ends in Arrest of Armed Aggravated Assault Suspect in Bibb County

MACON, Ga.— Bibb County deputies arrested a 45-year-old man Tuesday, April 28th, following a brief pursuit that ended when the suspect was forced to stop, authorities said.

The suspect, identified as Ronnie Horace Stephens Jr., faces 24 charges, including a new charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Stephens is a convicted felon with multiple outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest. Those warrants included three counts of aggravated assault, four counts of felony cruelty to children, aggravated stalking and five counts of felony theft.

Investigators said a handgun was recovered from the Toyota Camry Stephens was driving. As a result, he also faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, along with driving while license suspended or revoked and fleeing or attempting to elude police for a felony offense.

Authorities also arrested Stephens’ mother, who is charged with hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal.

The case remains under investigation.
