11 Arrested, Drugs and Guns Seized in Gang and Drug Investigation in Macon

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced the arrest of 11 suspects on multiple drug, gun, and gang-related charges following the conclusion of Operation “Westside Wakeup,” a multi-agency investigation targeting drug trafficking and illegal firearms sales in Middle Georgia.

The investigation, which began in January 2025, was led by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Unit and supported by Carr’s Gang Prosecution Unit. Additional assistance was provided by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Gang Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and several Bibb County Sheriff’s Office divisions.

“This operation illustrates how the illicit drug trade reaches from the cell block to the city street,” said Bibb County Sheriff David J. Davis. “We can be very grateful for the dedicated work of the local, state, and federal investigators in bringing to justice those individuals who work to bring poison into our community.”

Law enforcement seized significant amounts of illegal drugs and weapons, including:

  • Approximately 17 pounds of marijuana
  • Approximately 1.28 pounds of cocaine/crack cocaine
  • Approximately 3 ounces of ecstasy
  • Approximately 1 ounce of fentanyl
  • 8 fully automatic handguns
  • 1 9mm handgun
  • 1 GL-15 rifle
  • 1 AR-15 rifle
  • Digital scales and packaging materials
  • Approximately $110,000 in cash

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

  • Hassan Harclerode Sr. – Conspiracy to Violate the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, trafficking in cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and conspiracy for trafficking cocaine.
  • Akbar Harclerode Sr. – Conspiracy to Violate the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, possession of firearm by a convicted felon (3 counts).
  • Kierra Howard – Conspiracy to Violate the Georgia Controlled Substance Act.
  • Akbar Harclerode Jr. – Conspiracy for trafficking cocaine, trafficking fentanyl, possession of firearm during the commission of a felony (2 counts), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
  • Chanika Randall – Conspiracy for trafficking cocaine.
  • Rodney Clyde – Conspiracy for trafficking cocaine.
  • Arias Clyde – Conspiracy for trafficking cocaine.
  • Gregory Woodard – Conspiracy for trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
  • Thomas Butler – Conspiracy for trafficking cocaine.
  • Tylon Evans – Sale of fentanyl (2 counts), sale of methamphetamine.
  • Clarence Smith – Conspiracy for trafficking cocaine.

“The DEA, along with our law enforcement partners, are deploying all resources available to combat criminal organizations that are destroying our communities with guns, drugs and violence,” said Jae W. Chung, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Division.

“The FBI remains committed to working alongside our law enforcement partners to dismantle the criminal networks fueling violence and drug trafficking in our communities,” said Paul Brown, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta. “Operation ‘Westside Wakeup’ is a strong example of the impact we can have when agencies come together to target organized crime at every level.”

The Georgia Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution Unit, created in 2022 and recently expanded to Macon, led the prosecution efforts for the operation. Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
