Five Shot During Large Gathering at Hancock County Home, One Victim Critically Injured
SPARTA, Ga. – Five people were injured, including one who remains in critical condition, after gunfire erupted during a large gathering at a home in Hancock County early Sunday morning, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The shooting occurred Aug. 16 at a residence in the 2000 block of Beulah Highway in Sparta.
At approximately 2:52 a.m., the Hancock County 911 Center received a call reporting that multiple people had been shot by several individuals at the gathering.
Five victims were transported to a regional hospital for treatment. The GBI said four were listed in stable condition, while a fifth remained in critical condition.
Authorities have not released the identities or ages of the victims.
GBI Investigating Shooting
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the GBI, which is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Investigators have not identified any suspects or announced arrests. The GBI also has not disclosed what may have led to the gunfire or whether investigators believe the shooters were attending the gathering.
