Three Juveniles Arrested After Vehicle Break-Ins and Shootout in Albany

Three juveniles, two 14-year-olds and a 12-year-old, have been arrested in connection with multiple vehicle break-ins and a subsequent shootout that occurred on March 24, 2025.
Officers interviewed the suspects after receiving a tip from viewers who saw video footage of the incident on news media platforms. The juveniles admitted to breaking into vehicles on 5th and 6th Avenue.
At a location in the 700 block of 9th Avenue, they stole a firearm. When the vehicle owner came outside, the juveniles fled. The owner then pursued them in their vehicle. The juveniles then fired shots at the vehicle, and the owner returned fire. Approximately three firearms were stolen during the break-ins.
The juveniles were taken into custody and transported to the Terrell County Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC). They were charged with Entering an Automobile, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Handgun by a Person Under the Age of 18.
The police department urges anyone whose vehicle was entered during this timeframe and who has not yet reported the incident to do so.
