18-Year-Old Arrested After Robbery at Albany Electronics Store
ALBANY, Ga. An 18-year-old man has been arrested after police say he intimidated employees with what appeared to be a handgun before stealing electronics from a business in Albany.
According to the Albany Police Department, the Criminal Investigative Bureau investigated a robbery that occurred on July 14 at The Phone Revival, located at 2734 Ledo Road.
Investigators identified the suspect as 18-year-old Demetrivs Whitfield.
Police said Whitfield entered the store and began asking employees about the products being sold while armed with what workers believed was a firearm.
During the encounter, Whitfield allegedly displayed the weapon and identified it as a Glock 19.
Although investigators said Whitfield never pointed the firearm at the employees, they reported he reminded them he was armed and stated that he could take everything in the store.
Police said Whitfield then stole electronics from the business and fled on foot.
Responding officers obtained screenshots from surveillance video in the area, which investigators used to identify Whitfield as the suspect.
Whitfield was arrested and booked into the Dougherty County Jail on a charge of robbery by intimidation.
The investigation remains under review by the Albany Police Department.
