Two Albany Residents Arrested After GBI Seizes Cocaine, Fentanyl, Meth and Guns
ALBANY, Ga. – Two Albany residents have been arrested on drug trafficking charges after state and local law enforcement officers executed a search warrant and seized cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine, fentanyl and firearms from a home, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The GBI identified the suspects as Taylor Bridges, 30, and Demetris Johnson, 47, both of Albany.
Bridges and Johnson were each charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Trafficking Cocaine. The GBI said additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
The arrests followed a multi-agency operation on Thursday, Aug. 13, involving the GBI Southwestern Regional Drug Enforcement Office, GBI Special Enforcement Team, Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol.
Search Warrant Leads to Large Drug Seizure
Authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1200 block of 6th Avenue in Albany as part of an ongoing illegal narcotics investigation.
According to the GBI, investigators seized approximately:
- 36.9 grams of suspected cocaine
- 87.6 grams of suspected crack cocaine
- 44.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine
- 7.6 grams of suspected fentanyl
- 3 pounds of suspected marijuana
- Two handguns
Authorities did not provide an estimated street value for the drugs or disclose whether either of the firearms was reported stolen.
The GBI also did not specify which drugs or firearms were allegedly associated with each defendant.
Bridges and Johnson were arrested and booked into the Dougherty County Jail.
GBI Says Additional Charges Expected
The GBI said the operation was part of an effort to address street-level drug distribution and violent crime in Albany and Dougherty County.
The investigation remains active, and authorities said additional charges are expected.
