Albany Man Arrested After Stealing Air Conditioning Units From Two Businesses
ALBANY, Ga. A 50-year-old Albany man has been arrested after investigators linked him to the theft of air conditioning units from two local businesses.
According to the Albany Police Department, officers responded on July 14 to Nail Affair, located at 2510 Archwood Drive, after receiving a report that an air conditioning unit had been stolen.
During the investigation, officers reviewed surveillance video from Archwood Plaza, which captured the theft and recorded the license plate of the suspect’s vehicle.
Police entered the tag information into the Flock camera system and quickly located the vehicle.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver, identified as 50-year-old Stephen Mark Smith.
Smith was initially charged with felony theft by taking in connection with the theft from Nail Affair.
As detectives continued their investigation, they determined Smith was also connected to a similar theft that occurred on June 29 at Aaron’s, located at 2623 Dawson Road.
Investigators said surveillance footage from that incident also captured Smith and his vehicle.
Smith was subsequently charged with a second count of felony theft by taking related to the theft at Aaron’s.
