High-Speed Chase in Jones County Ends with Arrest Near Circle K

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, a high-speed pursuit involving Jones County deputies and Gray Police officers culminated in the arrest of Walter Joe Daniels. The incident began when Investigator Hall encountered Daniels on Joycliff Road, where Daniels nearly collided with Hall’s vehicle head-on. Upon attempting a traffic stop, Daniels fled at high speed down Gray Highway.
Sergeant Walker joined the pursuit near the city limits and attempted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to halt Daniels. Although Daniels temporarily regained control of his vehicle, he struck Investigator Hall’s vehicle in the process. The chase continued into the city, where Sergeant Walker successfully executed a PIT maneuver near the Circle K, bringing the pursuit to an end.
Daniels was taken into custody without further incident. He faces multiple charges, including Fleeing or Attempting to Elude, Reckless Driving, Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Less Safe, Failure to Maintain Lane, Possession of Cocaine, and Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer. Daniels remains in custody at this time.
