Jefferson Police Sergeant Arrested for Unauthorized Disclosure of Sensitive Information

On February 19, 2025, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested Sergeant Reginald Lee New, 58, of the Jefferson Police Department, on charges of disclosing information from the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) system to an unauthorized individual.

The Jefferson Police Department initiated the investigation into the alleged unauthorized disclosure of protected GCIC information to a city official without the necessary clearance.

Sergeant New was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Jackson County Jail.
