Bibb County Expands Operation Safer Together, Invites Businesses to Register Security Cameras

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is enhancing its community safety initiative, Operation Safer Together, by allowing commercial businesses in Macon-Bibb County to register their monitoring devices with law enforcement. This initiative aims to strengthen partnerships between the sheriff’s office and local businesses to improve crime prevention and investigation efforts.
Participating businesses can now grant the sheriff’s office access to live-stream footage from selected internal and external security cameras. This access is intended to expedite the retrieval of critical footage during active investigations or in response to crimes in progress, saving valuable time in situations where rapid response is crucial.
Businesses that register will receive placards to display on-site, informing patrons of their participation in Operation Safer Together.
Sheriff David J. Davis highlighted the program’s integration with the county’s successful FLOCK camera system, stating, “This program will give our community members an opportunity to connect their monitoring devices so that evildoers can be identified and brought to justice. We encourage local businesses to sign up.”
Captain Jason Batchelor emphasized the program’s inspiration from the Atlanta Police Department’s Operation Shield, which has seen over 16,000 participants. “This initiative aims to fortify partnerships with businesses, residents, and community organizations to proactively combat crime,” said Batchelor.
Local business owners have expressed their support for the program. Jay Patel, a participant, remarked, “The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is doing good work here. We call 911, and they are able to look at the camera and give good service. We are happy with this.” Similarly, Bobby Amin stated, “There are no issues inside the store. I’m happy, recommend this, this is for safety.”
Camera registration is simple and secure. Businesses interested in participating can visit https://refer.flocksafety.com/bibb-county-safe/ to sign up. While registered cameras provide critical support for investigations, the sheriff’s office clarified that it does not actively monitor live-stream footage. Access is limited solely to authorized personnel and is used only for law enforcement purposes.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office continues to work toward its mission of fostering a safer community through collaboration with residents and businesses.
