Camilla Man Faces Meth Trafficking, Gun Charges After Drug Raid; Second Suspect Also Arrested

CAMILLA, Ga. – Two Camilla residents have been arrested following a multi-agency drug investigation that resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, suspected ecstasy, marijuana, a firearm and approximately $11,000, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The GBI identified the suspects as Travis Lamar Harris, 51, and Kenyetta Clayton, 47, both of Camilla. The arrests followed the execution of a search warrant Wednesday, Aug. 19, at a residence in the 7000 block of Pipeline Road.

Authorities said the warrant was connected to an illegal narcotics investigation.

During the search, investigators reported seizing approximately 88 grams of methamphetamine, 27.8 grams of suspected ecstasy, 1.37 ounces of suspected marijuana, approximately $11,000 and a firearm.

Harris Faces Multiple Drug Trafficking and Firearm Charges

Harris faces numerous felony drug and weapons charges, including four counts of trafficking methamphetamine.

According to the GBI, Harris is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II substance with intent to distribute, four counts of trafficking methamphetamine and use of a communication device to facilitate a drug transaction.

He also faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon during the commission of a felony.

Clayton was charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

Both suspects were booked into the Mitchell County Jail.

Multiple Agencies Participated in Camilla Operation

The operation involved the GBI Southwestern Regional Drug Enforcement Office, GBI Regional Investigative Office in Thomasville, Camilla Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the GBI, the investigation was conducted as part of an effort to target street-level drug distribution and violent crime in Camilla and Mitchell County.
