Shooting in Albany Leaves Woman Critically Injured; Two Arrested

A shooting in the 1000 block of West Whitney Avenue early Tuesday morning, May 13th, has left a 29-year-old woman in critical condition, and resulted in the arrests of two individuals.

Officers responded to the location around 2:00 A.M. and found the victim, Lawanda Flemming (29), with a gunshot wound to her head. According to police, Flemming and two other occupants had stopped in the alleyway when a bullet penetrated their vehicle, striking Flemming.

At the scene, officers arrested Robert Young (30) and Breanna Toomer (27) in connection with the incident. Young has been charged with Aggravated Assault, while Toomer has been charged with Tampering with Evidence. Both individuals were taken to the Dougherty County Jail.

Lawanda Flemming remains in critical condition. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
