Life Sentence for Cobb County Man in Child Sex Abuse Case

Cobb County District Attorney Sonya F. Allen announced on Tuesday, April 22nd, that 20-year-old Cooper Hamilton has been sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years after pleading guilty to 25 counts related to the sexual exploitation and abuse of a minor child.
The investigation began in February 2024 when the Cobb County Police Department received a tip from the FBI regarding Hamilton’s alleged production and sharing of illegal material involving a minor on the dark web. Cobb County Police Detective Felker led the investigation, which uncovered over 100 videos created by Hamilton depicting repeated acts of abuse, many recorded between 2020 and November 2023. Investigators also found evidence of Hamilton secretly taking and sharing exploitative photographs of the child online.
Hamilton pleaded guilty to 25 charges of aggravated child molestation and sexual exploitation of children. Cobb County Superior Court Judge A. Gregory Poole, who presided over the case, described the evidence as “disturbing” and called Hamilton a “predator who poses a significant danger to the community.”
“This case represents one of the most serious violations of trust and innocence that we see in the criminal justice system,” said District Attorney Sonya F. Allen. “We are grateful to the investigators and prosecutors who worked tirelessly to secure justice for the victim.”
District Attorney Allen thanked Assistant District Attorney Lindsay Raynor and other members of the office, as well as the Cobb County Police Department, for their dedication in achieving this outcome.
