Traffic Stop in Maysville School Zone Leads to Drug Trafficking Arrests

On Monday, April 14, 2025, at approximately 7:44 a.m., officers with the Maysville Police Department attempted to stop a black 2014 Ford Escape for speeding in a school zone. The vehicle eventually stopped near 15 Homer Street, in front of the old Maysville Baptist Church.
The driver, identified as 34-year-old Michael Ray King of Dahlonega, Georgia, was found to have an outstanding probation warrant from Lumpkin County, Georgia. While officers were confirming the warrant status, a white male wearing an orange shirt exited the rear passenger seat and fled across Homer Street, jumping a wooden fence into a nearby yard.
The fleeing passenger, identified as 32-year-old Travis Grant Turpin of Gainesville, Georgia, was located behind a mobile home near Fair and Ellison Street and taken into custody by Maysville officers.
Further investigation of the vehicle led to the discovery of over three ounces of suspected marijuana and over 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
The following individuals were arrested:
- Michael Ray King, 34, of Dahlonega, Georgia: Charged with Speeding and an outstanding Probation Arrest Warrant (Lumpkin County). He was transported to the Jackson County Jail.
- Travis Grant Turpin, 32, of Gainesville, Georgia: Charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, and Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officer. He was transported to the Banks County Jail.
- Alexis Patricia Alba, 32, of Commerce, Georgia: Charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. She was transported to the Banks County Jail.
