Macon Deputies Catch Suspect After Stolen Vehicle Found at Harrison Road Restaurant

MACON, Ga. – A 37-year-old man was arrested Friday after Bibb County deputies found a stolen vehicle at a fast-food restaurant and chased the driver when he ran from the scene.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Michael Shawn Hobby.

According to an incident report, a Toyota had been reported stolen from a gas station on Sardis Church Road.

On Sept. 11, sheriff’s office Investigator Adam Grant and Patrol Division Deputy Zyndia Robinson located the stolen Toyota at a fast-food restaurant on Harrison Road.

Authorities said Hobby fled from the vehicle after seeing the deputies and attempted to escape on foot.

Grant and Robinson pursued Hobby and took him into custody following a brief foot chase.

Hobby was charged with felony theft by taking, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.

His bond was set at $6,650.
