Cordele Undercover Operation Nets Five Businesses Selling Alcohol to Minors

The Cordele Police Department, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Revenue, conducted an undercover operation this week targeting the illegal sale of alcohol to minors.

The operation resulted in five businesses being cited for selling alcohol to underage individuals:

  • Family Food Mart (Valero) – 601 E 8th Ave
  • Cordele Food Mart – 316 E 24th Ave
  • Party Shoppe – 204 W 24th Ave
  • OM Jai LLC (Joe’s Meat Market) – 1305 S Joe Wright Dr
  • Sonny’s Package Store – 412 E 16th Ave

The Valero location was also found to be selling alcohol without a license.

Individuals involved in the illegal sales were cited and released by police, while the businesses face sanctions from the Georgia Department of Revenue.

The operation targeted 25 convenience and beverage stores in Cordele. Twenty businesses lawfully refused to sell alcohol to the underage individuals.

The operation was initiated based on information received regarding potential sales to minors.

“The sale of alcohol to children poses a significant risk to the well-being of our youth. The coordinating of this operation shows that the Cordele Police Department is committed to maintaining the safety of this community,” stated Chief Jalon Heard.
