Rockdale County Schools Increase Security After Social Media Threats

The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) is investigating multiple social media threats targeting a local high school, prompting increased security measures at all high and middle schools in the district.

On February 19, 2025, the RCSO was alerted to a social media post threatening the safety of a high school during winter break. An immediate investigation identified two students responsible for the initial threat.

On February 23, 2025, the RCSO received reports of two additional social media posts threatening the same high school. These new threats are currently under investigation.

As a precautionary measure, the RCSO has implemented additional security at all high and middle schools throughout Rockdale County.

The RCSO is working closely with local schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
