Two Rockdale County Sheriff’s Employees Arrested Following Internal Investigations

ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — Two employees with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office have been arrested following separate internal investigations involving alleged misconduct, according to Sheriff Eric J. Levett.

Officials said both employees were placed on administrative leave by the agency’s Office of Professional Standards before their arrests on May 18, 2026.

According to the sheriff’s office, one employee, a certified deputy, was involved in a domestic-related criminal investigation and was charged with peeping tom and eavesdropping. Authorities said the deputy remains on administrative leave pending due process.

The second employee, identified as a detention deputy, was accused of using excessive force against an inmate inside the Rockdale County Jail.

Officials said the detention deputy, who was a probationary employee, was terminated and charged with aggravated assault, battery, and violation of oath of office.

Authorities said both former employees are currently being housed at another detention facility.

“I want to be clear that when any of my staff are involved in any misconduct, whether it is violating the rights of an inmate or a violation of the law, they will be held accountable. I hold every one of my employees at a high level of accountability and their actions shall never tarnish the trust we have from the community we serve. Every case of misconduct by any employee of the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office will be investigated thoroughly, with transparency, and will be arrested and charged accordingly,” said Sheriff Levett.
