Patrick Nalley, 47, a former Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Brookhaven, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, with two years to be served in confinement, for obscene internet contact with a minor and criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation.

Nalley, who previously held positions in parks and recreation departments in Virginia, was arrested in August 2023 following an undercover sting operation conducted by the Cobb County Police Department Special Victims Unit.

During the investigation, Nalley engaged in sexually explicit online conversations with an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl. Despite the officer repeatedly stating her age, Nalley made plans to meet with the “girl.”

Nalley was subsequently arrested and charged. He pleaded guilty to the charges on January 27, 2025.

“We take these types of crimes very seriously and are committed to ensuring that those who seek to exploit children are held accountable,” said District Attorney Sonya F. Allen.
