Son Arrested in Connection with Mother’s Disappearance, Charged with Concealing Death

Jason Campbell, 34, was arrested in connection with the disappearance of his mother, 62-year-old Marie Campbell, who was reported missing on January 6, 2025. He is charged with concealing the death of a person.

According to a statement from the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began after Jason Campbell told deputies on January 8 that his mother had been picked up by an unknown person three days earlier and that he had not heard from her since. Despite the claim, Marie’s vehicle remained parked in front of Jason’s residence since January 5.

At one point, Campbell allegedly told deputies that he had called 911 on January 7 to report that his mother had been “abducted by aliens.” Police later confirmed that the 911 call had been made.

“This meticulous investigation, which is being conducted by our investigators and forensic unit, is ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available,” said Sheriff Carlton Speed.
