Fugitive Captured in Griffin After Vehicle Theft Spree Across Georgia
On August 6, 2024, Mark Dixon Hall stole a vehicle from a Toyota dealership in Newnan, Georgia. Hall then fled to Forsyth County, where he committed another vehicle theft. Since then, Hall has been evading capture and has outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions due to these incidents and prior offenses throughout the state.
For the past month, members of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations and Warrant Divisions have been working to locate Hall. Leads indicated possible locations in Georgia, Tennessee, and Louisiana.
On September 5, 2024, Deputy Jacob Herbert received information placing Hall in Griffin, Georgia, though the exact location was not provided. Deputy Herbert contacted Inv. Stacy Beckom, who then coordinated with Investigator Brad Jones of the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office. Beckom and Jones organized a plan with the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division.
Within thirty minutes, the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division, in coordination with Herbert and Beckom, located Hall off North Expressway, just north of Griffin city limits. Hall was positively identified and taken into custody without incident. Upon arrest, Hall commented that officers did a good job, as no one had managed to capture him before.
The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, particularly Inv. Brad Jones and the Special Operations Division, for their swift assistance in apprehending Hall.
