Student Arrested After Firearm Recovered Outside Woodland Middle School in Stockbridge

On Thursday, September 5, 2024, Henry County Police School Resource Officers and Henry County Schools staff responded to a tip regarding a student allegedly planning to bring a firearm onto the campus of Woodland Middle School.

A collaborative effort between school staff and School Resource Officers quickly led to the identification of the student involved. At approximately 8:40 a.m., the firearm was safely recovered before the student could enter the school building.

The student was subsequently arrested and charged with Possession of a Pistol/Revolver by a Person Under 18 Years of Age and Carrying a Weapon in a School Safety Zone. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, and the case is ongoing.
