Columbus Police Arrest Suspect After Shots Fired Call, Seize Firearms and Marijuana

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., Columbus Police officers responded to a shots fired call in the 2700 block of Schaul Street. Upon arrival, the suspect fled the scene but was later found hiding in a backyard.

The suspect, identified as Detavies Brown, was taken into custody. Officers searched his car and found four firearms and 23 grams of marijuana.

Charges against Brown include:

  • Reckless Conduct
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Drug-Related Objects
  • Obstruction (Misdemeanor)
  • Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm (four counts)
  • Theft by Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm) (two counts)
