Columbus Police Arrest 26 During Crime Suppression Operation, Seize Stolen Guns and Drugs

COLUMBUS, Ga. — The Columbus Police Department’s Special Operations Unit arrested 26 people, recovered two stolen firearms, and seized drugs and cash during a citywide crime suppression operation conducted on June 12.

According to police, the enforcement detail focused on proactive policing efforts aimed at reducing crime and targeting criminal activity throughout Columbus.

During the operation, officers made contact with 311 individuals, conducted 221 traffic stops, issued 116 citations, and made 26 arrests.

Authorities reported seizing approximately 147.9 grams of marijuana, two stolen firearms, 20 miscellaneous pills, drug-related objects, and $9,274 in cash.

Several arrests involved drug and weapons offenses.

Among those arrested was Brandon Dellar, who was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of Drug-Related Objects, and Sale of Marijuana.

Daniel Pitts was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and a cracked windshield violation.

Qwmaine Hawk was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of Drug-Related Objects, and a cracked windshield violation.

Manual Smith was arrested on a charge of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property involving a firearm.

Officers also arrested a juvenile on a charge of Possession of a Handgun by a Person Under 18.

Other arrests included individuals wanted on warrants, probation violations, obstruction charges, family violence-related offenses, and various narcotics violations.

One of the more serious arrests involved Calvin Calloway, who was charged with three counts of Felony Obstruction, Attempt to Disarm an Officer, and a Contempt of Court warrant.

Demetrick Thomas was taken into custody on a federal indictment warrant.

Police also arrested several individuals on charges involving marijuana possession, ecstasy possession, oxycodone possession, driving offenses, and outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions.

The Columbus Police Department said the operation reflects its ongoing commitment to proactive enforcement and crime reduction efforts.

“The Columbus Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts aimed at reducing crime, recovering illegal firearms, and addressing criminal activity that impacts the safety and quality of life of our community,” the department said in a statement.

Authorities did not release additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding each arrest.

The investigations remain ongoing.
