Armed Robbery Suspect Surrenders After Multi-Agency Response in Cordele
CORDELE, Ga. — A man wanted on an aggravated assault charge is facing an additional armed robbery charge after surrendering to law enforcement Wednesday morning following a coordinated response by local agencies.
According to the Cordele Police Department, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery involving a citizen near the 900 block of West 16th Avenue on July 1.
Responding officers quickly obtained a detailed description of the suspect and the vehicle involved and immediately shared the information with other officers and the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office.
A Crisp County sheriff’s deputy soon located the suspect vehicle in the 700 block of West 27th Avenue and observed the suspect enter a nearby residence.
Officers and deputies secured the area, and a short time later, the suspect exited the home and surrendered peacefully without incident.
Investigators said the suspect was already wanted on an aggravated assault warrant and has now been charged with armed robbery. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence, where they recovered three firearms, including one that had been reported stolen.
Investigators also seized suspected marijuana and other evidence believed to be connected to the case.
The Cordele Police Department thanked its officers, the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, and Crisp County 911 dispatchers for their coordinated efforts that led to the suspect’s safe apprehension.
Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity, and the investigation remains ongoing.
