Bibb County Suspect Arrested After String of Armed Robberies

Macon, GA – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Dylan Sampson Smith in connection with multiple commercial armed robberies and an attempted robbery that occurred over the past two days.

On November 24, 2025, deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at Family Dollar, 2584 Rocky Creek Road, at 9:17 a.m. Witnesses reported that a black male wearing brown coveralls and a ski mask entered the store brandishing a firearm, demanded money, and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Just 11 minutes later, another call reported an attempted armed robbery at Melody’s Magic Mart, 2487 Rocky Creek Road, where an armed male matching the earlier description demanded money but left without taking any cash. No injuries were reported in either incident.

Sheriff’s deputies, assisted by the Strategic Information Center, located Smith at a residence on Village Green Lane. Inside the home were two adults and several children. The suspect initially refused to exit, prompting the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Hostage Negotiations Team and SWAT to respond. All non-suspects safely exited the residence, and Smith ultimately surrendered without incident.

Smith, who was also wanted for a Superior Court Violation of Probation, has been linked to the armed robbery of Lucky’s Food Mart on November 23, 2025. He was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and two counts of Armed Robbery and is being held without bond at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

The investigation remains active, and authorities urge anyone with additional information to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
