Crisp County Deputies Enforce Operation to Crack Down on School Bus Violations

The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office responded to complaints of drivers failing to stop for school bus stop arms by conducting targeted enforcement this afternoon as part of “Operation Stop Arm.”

The statewide initiative focuses on ensuring motorists obey laws requiring them to stop when a school bus is loading or unloading passengers with flashing red lights and an extended stop arm. Under Georgia law, all traffic in both directions must stop on two-lane roads in these situations.

Violations carry significant penalties, including a mandatory court appearance, fines of up to $1,000, up to six points on a driving record, and for drivers under 21, an automatic license suspension.
