Former Walker County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Sentenced to Prison for Theft of Citation Funds

Amy Kathleen Bradley, a former Lieutenant with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, has been sentenced to 20 years, with the first four years to be served in prison, after pleading guilty to Theft by Taking. The conviction stems from the misappropriation of funds related to citation payments.
An investigation initiated in June 2021 revealed that Bradley, who was assigned to the Walker County Jail, had been stealing cash payments made by individuals for county-issued citations between 2018 and 2022. Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Special Agent Daniel Nicholson led the investigation, ultimately obtaining a confession from Bradley. She was subsequently charged with multiple counts of Theft by Taking and Theft by Conversion.
As part of the plea agreement, in addition to her prison sentence, Bradley was ordered to pay over $70,000 in restitution to Walker County. She is also required to forfeit all law enforcement certifications and is permanently barred from holding any future position in law enforcement or any role involving the handling of money.
The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Lynsay Chapman. District Attorney Clayton M. Fuller praised the GBI and Agent Nicholson for their work, stating, “I want to thank the GBI for bringing us a strong case and in particular Agent Nicholson who is an indispensable asset for justice in our community. I don’t care if you wear a badge—you steal from the people, you answer for it. In the LMJC, no one is above the law.”
The conviction is seen as a testament to the commitment of the GBI and the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office to addressing corruption within law enforcement and upholding the integrity of public service.
