Two Former Reynolds Police Officers Charged After Investigation Into 911 Call, Alleged Neglect of Duty

REYNOLDS, Ga. – Two former Reynolds Police Department officers are facing criminal charges following an investigation into an Aug. 22 incident involving an alleged domestic-related offense and the handling of a call for service.

Former Officer Landon E. Aldridge was charged with Hindering a 911 Call, while former Officer Christopher K. Boyt was charged with Violation of Oath of Office, according to Reynolds Police Chief Lonnie J. Holder.

Police said the investigation determined that an alleged criminal offense occurred involving Aldridge and his significant other. The department did not disclose additional details about the incident or the circumstances that led to the Hindering a 911 Call charge.

Aldridge had already resigned from the Reynolds Police Department before the Aug. 22 incident occurred, according to the department.

Second Officer Accused of Neglecting Duty

During the same investigation, authorities determined that Boyt allegedly neglected a duty related to the investigation of a call for service.

Boyt was subsequently charged with Violation of Oath of Office.

According to Reynolds Police, Boyt resigned from the department while he was under investigation and is no longer employed as a Reynolds police officer.

The department did not specify what duty Boyt allegedly failed to perform or provide additional information about his involvement in the call.

“The Reynolds Police Department takes all allegations of criminal conduct and violations of duty seriously,” Chief Holder said in the department’s statement. “Our commitment remains to uphold the law, maintain professional standards, and serve the citizens of Reynolds with integrity, fairness, and accountability.”

Because legal proceedings remain ongoing, the department said it would not release further details about the case at this time.
