Traffic Stop in Monroe County Leads to Drug Arrests and Foot Pursuit

A Tuesday night traffic stop in Monroe County resulted in the arrests of two individuals on multiple drug-related charges, following a brief foot pursuit.

On April 8, 2025, at approximately 9:20 pm, Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Boxankle Road near High Falls Road. During the stop, the passenger, identified as 43-year-old Keith Jones, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies quickly apprehended him.

Near where Jones was apprehended, deputies discovered a black plastic container holding two clear plastic bags and a plastic straw containing a substance suspected to be methamphetamine. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a used syringe with what appeared to be fresh blood on it.

Jones was taken into custody and faces charges of Possession of THC wax, Possession of Methamphetamine, Tampering with Evidence, Obstruction of an Officer, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Possession of a Knife during the commission of a Felony. Authorities also discovered an outstanding warrant for Jones out of Clayton County for Burglary.

The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Demi Turner, was also arrested and charged with Possession of THC wax, Possession of drug related objects, and various traffic violations.

Both Jones and Turner are currently being held at the Monroe County Jail without bond.
