Teen Arrested Nearly Six Months After Southwest Macon Drive-By Shooting Investigation
MACON, Ga. — A Macon man has been arrested nearly six months after investigators say he was involved in a shooting that left a sport utility vehicle riddled with bullets outside a southwest Bibb County home.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began at approximately 4:05 a.m. on Jan. 3, 2026, when deputies responded to a residence in the 4500 block of Elkan Avenue following reports of shots fired.
When deputies arrived, the homeowner told investigators he had heard approximately seven gunshots around 11 p.m. on Jan. 2 but did not immediately investigate because gunfire was common in the neighborhood.
Several hours later, at approximately 4 a.m., the victim said he woke up to take his girlfriend’s friend to work and discovered his black 2016 GMC Yukon had been struck by multiple rounds.
Deputies found extensive damage to the vehicle, including several bullet holes along the passenger side, a shattered rear passenger-side window, bullet strikes to the rear fender and roof, and a front driver’s-side tire that had been pierced by gunfire.
Crime scene investigators recovered numerous shell casings from the roadway in front of the residence, including eight .223-caliber rifle casings, four .40-caliber handgun casings, and two 9mm casings. The evidence was submitted to the crime laboratory for analysis.
As the investigation progressed, detectives identified 19-year-old Marquis Dewayne Williams of Macon as a suspect.
On June 25, 2026, Williams was arrested and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Criminal Damage to Property in the Second Degree.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details regarding the motive for the shooting.
