Two Men Arrested After Macon Pursuit, Deputies Find Guns Equipped With Switch Devices
MACON, Ga. – Two men were arrested Friday night after a traffic stop turned into a brief pursuit in Macon, where deputies recovered three firearms, including two equipped with devices capable of converting guns to automatic fire, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Jaquiy Keyon Glover, 20, and Kemaury Deshawn Fambles, 21, were taken into custody following the Aug. 28 pursuit.
The incident began around 9:30 p.m. when a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office K-9 Interdiction Unit attempted to stop a Nissan Altima near the Forsyth Street exit of Interstate 75.
Glover, who was driving the Nissan, was wanted on outstanding warrants, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said Glover initially stopped but then turned on the vehicle’s hazard lights and drove away.
Deputies pursued the Nissan and were able to bring it to a stop.
Fambles, who was a passenger, got out carrying a backpack and attempted to run from deputies, according to the incident report. He was quickly apprehended.
Deputies searched the backpack and recovered two firearms, both equipped with switch devices, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Such devices can convert certain semiautomatic firearms to fire automatically.
A third firearm was recovered from inside the Nissan.
Fambles was charged with use of a machine gun, sawed-off rifle, sawed-off shotgun or silencer during the commission of a crime. He was also being held on a bond surrender related to a previous arrest. His bond was set at $8,250.
Glover was charged with second-degree criminal damage to property, felony fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, and use of a machine gun, sawed-off rifle, sawed-off shotgun or silencer during the commission of a crime.
He was also being held on three additional warrants involving failure to appear in court and a bond surrender. His bond was set at $16,500.
The Sheriff’s Office said additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
