FBI Atlanta SWAT Captures North Carolina Shooting Suspect in Loganville
LOGANVILLE, Ga. — A North Carolina man wanted in connection with a shooting that critically injured one person was arrested Tuesday in Loganville by the FBI Atlanta SWAT Team.
According to authorities, 25-year-old Marques Fleming was wanted by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on a charge of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill.
The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, in the 900 block of Wabash Avenue in Charlotte’s Freedom Division.
Officers responding to reports of a shooting found two victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
MEDIC transported both victims to local hospitals. One sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the second suffered life-threatening injuries.
Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Freedom Division, along with Crime Scene Search personnel, launched an investigation and processed the scene for evidence.
As the investigation progressed, detectives identified Fleming as the suspect and obtained arrest warrants.
Investigators with the FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team determined Fleming had fled North Carolina and was believed to be in Georgia.
On Tuesday, June 30, the FBI Atlanta SWAT Team located and arrested Fleming in Loganville without incident.
Fleming will be extradited to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office to face the pending charges.
