Convicted Felon Accused of Pointing Gun at Adults, 3 Young Children Inside Valdosta Home

VALDOSTA, Ga. – A 46-year-old convicted felon faces multiple felony charges after police said she entered a Valdosta home without permission and pointed a handgun at several people, including three children younger than 10.

Vivian Patrice Davis was arrested Friday night, Aug. 28, following a search involving local law enforcement agencies, according to the Valdosta Police Department.

Police were called around 8 p.m. to the 1200 block of McArthur Drive after a 911 caller reported someone firing a gun.

When officers arrived, witnesses told them a man and woman had been arguing outside the residence before another vehicle pulled up.

Davis got out of the vehicle carrying a handgun, according to police.

Witnesses told investigators Davis pointed the gun at several people before entering the residence and yelling at those inside. Police said Davis did not have permission to enter the home.

Three of the people threatened with the firearm were children under the age of 10, Police Chief Leslie Manahan said.

After Davis left the house, witnesses heard a gunshot outside. Officers searched the area but did not find anyone who had been shot or otherwise injured.

Witnesses gave police a detailed description of the vehicle Davis used to leave the scene. That information was distributed to other law enforcement agencies in the area.

Authorities later located the vehicle in the 1000 block of Hideaway Street and took Davis into custody without incident.

Davis was booked into the Lowndes County Jail on six felony counts of aggravated assault. She also faces felony charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, burglary and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Police also charged Davis with misdemeanor discharging a firearm near a public highway.

“We are very grateful that no one was injured during this incident,” Manahan said. “When this offender recklessly pointed a gun at innocent victims, including three children under the age of 10, she showed a blatant disregard for human life.”
