Shots Fired Inside Covington Convenience Store, Investigation Underway
COVINGTON, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a shooting incident after reports of gunfire inside a convenience store at a Shell gas station in Newton County on Monday afternoon.
Deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 2:55 p.m. on June 15, 2026, to reports of shots fired inside the Salem Quick Stop located at the intersection of Salem Road and Kirkland Road in Covington.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies arrived and began securing the scene while investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officials said no injuries have been reported.
Authorities have not released information regarding a suspect, possible motive, or whether anyone has been taken into custody.
The Newton County Sheriff’s Office described the case as an active and ongoing investigation.
