Grady County, Ga. – A Grady County Sheriff’s deputy arrested an Albany man Saturday night after a high-speed pursuit that reached 122 mph on Highway 112 North.

The incident began on December 7 at about 9 p.m. when Deputy Jamar Brown observed a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed. When he attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over and accelerated, weaving through traffic and endangering other motorists.

Deputies continued the pursuit, and a PIT maneuver brought the vehicle to a stop in a ditch off the roadway. The driver was identified as 31-year-old Anthony Bernard Weston of Albany, who was found to have active warrants.

Weston now faces a long list of additional charges, including:

• Failure to Maintain Lane
• Following Too Closely
• Felony Fleeing & Eluding
• Distracted Driving
• DUI
• No Seatbelt
• Driving While License Suspended/Revoked
• Reckless Driving
• Suspended Registration
• Too Fast for Conditions

The Georgia State Patrol investigated the crash.

Sheriff Martin Earl Prince issued a statement after the arrest, emphasizing the danger of fleeing from law enforcement.

“When you run from law enforcement in Grady County, you are making a choice that puts lives at risk—yours, ours, and every driver on the road,” Prince said. “We will not tolerate reckless disregard for the safety of this community. If you choose to flee, know this: we will catch you.”

The sheriff’s office also stressed that the pursuit was avoidable. Had Weston complied with the traffic stop, the situation would have ended safely and without property damage or risk to the public.
