Woman Arrested After Attempting to Take Toddler From Mother in Macon

MACON, Ga. — On Tuesday, April 13th, a woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to forcibly take a 3-year-old child from his mother at a Macon apartment complex, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred at a complex off Mumford Road, where Sgt. George Witherspoon with the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded and took the suspect into custody.

According to a report, the woman had no known relationship to the child or the child’s mother. The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Melody Precious Vaughn. Authorities said Vaughn attempted to take the toddler and became involved in a physical struggle with the mother.

Deputies intervened and arrested the suspect at the scene. She was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center.

No additional information about the suspect or potential charges has been released.
