Hiram Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Deadly DUI Crash in Paulding County
Dallas, Georgia – A Hiram man has been sentenced to 30 years in connection with a 2023 crash that claimed two young lives.
On October 31, 2025, 20-year-old Logan D. Sanders pleaded guilty to one count of Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree and one count of Serious Injury by Vehicle. Both charges stem from an April 1, 2023, collision caused by Sanders while driving under the influence.
According to investigators with the Georgia State Patrol and Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Sanders’ impaired driving directly led to the deadly crash.
During a sentencing hearing before Judge T. David Lyles, family members of the victims shared emotional statements describing their ongoing grief and the lasting effects of the tragedy.
Under the terms of a negotiated plea, Judge Lyles sentenced Sanders to 30 years, with 10 years to be served in prison and the remaining 20 years under community supervision.
District Attorney Robert S. Lane said the case underscores the devastating impact of impaired driving.
“This case is a heartbreaking reminder of how one deliberately careless act can destroy multiple lives,” said Lane. “Two young victims lost their futures, and the defendant—also just 20 years old—has now forfeited his own. Three families will carry the weight of this tragedy forever. Our office will continue to hold offenders accountable and to stand with victims and their loved ones in the pursuit of justice.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ashley McDonald of the Paulding Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
