Albany Shooting Linked to Earlier Aggravated Assault, Three Arrested

An investigation into a report of individuals exchanging firearms on April 14, 2025, has led Albany Police to connect the incident to a previous Aggravated Assault and resulted in the arrest of three individuals.
On April 14, 2025, officers responded to the 600 block of Chippington Court. There, they learned that the incident was related to an Aggravated Assault that occurred on April 3, 2025, in the 700 block of S Shadownlawn Dr. During the April 3rd incident, multiple vehicles and a residence in the 600 block of Chippington Ct were struck by gunfire, although no injuries were reported.
Following the April 14th incident, Nicholas Nix, 18, was taken into custody near Chippington Court. The other alleged shooter, Major Bell, 36, fled the scene. Investigators obtained a description of the vehicle Bell used to escape and later located it at the residence of his girlfriend, Teresa Cole, 33.
Further investigation revealed that Bell contacted Cole after the shooting and informed her that he and her vehicle were involved in the incident. Bell instructed Cole to meet him at 262 Cordele Road (East Albany Walmart) to exchange vehicles.
As a result of the investigation:
- Teresa Cole was charged with Hindering the Apprehension of a Criminal and Tampering with Evidence.
- Nicholas Nix and Major Bell were both charged with Aggravated Assault- Firearm, with additional charges pending.
Authorities noted that Nix had been previously arrested on April 3, 2025, during the S Shadownlawn Dr shooting for an active simple battery warrant, and faces additional charges from that incident as well.
