Fulton County Medical Examiner: Rapper’s Death Accidental, Not Police-Involved

The Atlanta Police Department has refuted inaccurate social media posts and comments surrounding the death of 39-year-old Kenneth Bailey (aka Rapper Young Scooter), clarifying that officers did not discharge their firearms or use any force against him.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, following an autopsy conducted on March 29, 2025, released its findings, which directly contradict claims of police involvement.
According to the Medical Examiner’s report, Bailey’s death, which occurred on March 28, 2025, was ruled an accident. The cause of death was a penetrating injury to his right thigh, which resulted in significant blood loss.
“Mr. Bailey sustained a penetrating injury of his right thigh that created marked blood loss. This injury was not a gunshot wound,” the report stated. The Medical Examiner determined that Bailey injured himself on organic (wooden) fencing material and/or woody debris after vaulting at least one fence.
The Atlanta Police Department emphasized that they understand the community’s grief over Bailey’s passing but stressed the importance of accurate information. They reiterated that their officers were not involved in the fatal injury.
Key Findings:
- Victim: Kenneth Bailey, 39, Black male.
- Cause of Death: Penetrating thigh injury.
- Manner of Death: Accident.
- Injury Source: Wooden fencing/debris, not a gunshot.
- Police Involvement: None.
