Towns County Man Sentenced to Life for Child Molestation Spanning Four Years

Tanner Boyd, 32, of Hiawassee, has been sentenced to life in prison, with 25 years to serve, after pleading guilty to aggravated child molestation in both Towns and White Counties.

The investigation began on June 3, 2024, when the Towns County Sheriff’s Office Investigators received a complaint regarding the molestation of a 13-year-old victim. The investigation revealed that the abuse had been ongoing since the child was 9 years old and occurred in multiple jurisdictions, including Towns County.

On June 3rd, Boyd was initially arrested on multiple counts of rape and aggravated sodomy.

On Monday, March 31, 2025, Boyd pleaded guilty to aggravated child molestation, resulting in the life sentence.

Towns County Sheriff Ken Henderson praised the investigators for their “hard work, dedication, and training” in bringing the case to a successful conviction.
