Deputy Injured in Camden County Domestic Disturbance Incident; Suspect Taken into Custody

Early Friday morning, February 14, 2025, deputies from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance call in the Kingsland area off Vacuna Road. During the response, a deputy sustained a serious injury while attempting to apprehend a fleeing suspect.
The emergency call was received by the Camden County 911 Center at 2:03 a.m., with deputies dispatched shortly afterward at 2:04 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the caller at the residence, who identified a male subject, later confirmed as the suspect, yelling from across the street. The suspect was instructed to remain on the scene, but he refused to comply and fled on foot.
As the situation unfolded, deputies grew concerned that the suspect might be armed when he failed to show his hands as instructed. A physical altercation ensued while attempting to take the suspect into custody, during which one of the deputies sustained a broken leg. The deputy is currently receiving medical care, and the Sheriff’s Office has asked the community to keep the officer and their family in their thoughts.
Despite being tazed during the struggle, the suspect remained uncooperative but was eventually taken into custody. He was booked at the Camden County Sheriff’s Office on charges related to the incident.
Sheriff Kevin Chaney spoke about the risks law enforcement officers face during domestic disturbance calls, saying, “Our deputies put themselves in harm’s way every day to protect this community. This incident is a reminder of the dangers they face and the sacrifices they make. We appreciate the community’s support as our injured deputy recovers.”
The Camden County Sheriff’s Office also expressed gratitude to the Kingsland Police Department for their assistance during the response, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure public safety.
