Murder Suspect Captured After High-Speed Chase Ends in Richmond County Crash

On January 29, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Southeastern U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, and Columbia County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team attempted to serve a search warrant at 310 Sumac Trail in Martinez, Georgia, to locate and arrest 18-year-old Tracy Martin on a Grand Jury arrest warrant for the July 27, 2024, murder of Argie Jones, 54, at 1965 Ellis Street.
As law enforcement arrived, Martin fled in a white Mitsubishi Mirage driven by another male, leading to a pursuit through Columbia County. The chase ended when the Mitsubishi collided head-on with another vehicle at Washington Road and Bobby Jones Expressway.
Martin was taken into custody and transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center on the murder charge. The driver of the Mitsubishi was also arrested, with Columbia County authorities set to file additional charges. Minor injuries were reported as a result of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
