Stepfather Charged in Fatal Domestic Shooting in Gwinnett County

A domestic-related shooting in Gwinnett County on Tuesday night left one man dead and resulted in the arrest of his stepfather.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on January 28, officers from the Central Precinct responded to a person-shot call near Venture Parkway and Market Street in Duluth. Upon arrival, officers found 26-year-old Jordan Calloway of Duluth suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving measures, and paramedics transported Calloway to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators identified Calloway’s stepfather, 54-year-old Johnny Mays Blackshear Jr. of Stockbridge, as the suspect. He was charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes. Detectives coordinated with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, which conducted a traffic stop on Blackshear’s vehicle and took him into custody without incident.
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate, interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area. Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene, and the Medical Examiner’s Office has been notified. Blackshear is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Jail.
