Man Arrested After Contraband Drop Attempt at Washington State Prison

In the early hours of December 28, 2024, Washington County Deputies, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) K9 Unit, intercepted an attempted contraband drop at Washington State Prison.

Authorities were alerted to a potential trespasser on prison property, prompting a swift response by a GDC K9 team. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jerry Norman III of Fairburn, Georgia, was tracked and apprehended. He was found in possession of contraband intended for the prison.

Jerry Norman III faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Conspiracy to Commit a Felony
  • Trading With Inmates
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of a Schedule 2 Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
  • Trafficking in Methamphetamine

Additionally, Norman is being charged in connection with a prior investigation involving another attempted contraband drop.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Department of Corrections emphasized their ongoing commitment to preventing illegal contraband deliveries at Washington State Prison, ensuring safety for both the community and the prison environment.
